Disability

Gwyneth has been diagnosed with Hypermobility Syndrome, Gastroparesis, and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. They are an ambulatory mobility aid user and are currently training their Service Dog Prospect Flynn. They are currently documenting their disability journey on TikTok.

Hypermobility Syndrome

"Joint hypermobility syndrome is a connective tissue disorder. Thick bands of tissue (ligaments) hold your joints together and keep them from moving too much or too far out of range. In people with joint hypermobility syndrome, those ligaments are loose or weak"- Cleveland Clinic

Gastroparesis

"Gastroparesis means paralysis of the stomach. It’s a functional disorder affecting your stomach nerves and muscles. It makes your stomach muscle contractions weaker and slower than they need to be to digest your food and pass it on to your intestines." -Cleveland Clinic

Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome

"POTS is a form of dysautonomia — a disorder of the autonomic nervous system. This branch of the nervous system regulates functions we don’t consciously control, such as heart rate, blood pressure, sweating and body temperature." - Johns Hopkins

Flynn

Flynn is Gwyn's service dog prospect who they have been training since July of 2024. Flynn is learning to be a cardiac alert and mobility service dog who will be able to help Gwyn in their every day life. Follow them on Tik Tok and Instagram for updates on their training journey.
